Giving your horse/pony a new lease of life
We know how much outgrown ponies can miss the buzz of a routine, and often they thrive with a new job to do. Our horse training at South Wales Carriage Driving Centre transforms bored or overweight ponies into eager partners, introducing them to carriage driving at a pace that builds trust.
We help your kid’s ponies stay well-behaved, making them even better riding companions. By working through each stage together, we ensure your horse/pony never feels rushed or overwhelmed by the process. It is about creating a positive experience for both you and your horse, so you both enjoy the journey.

How we train for carriage driving
Our training is a gradual process, designed so your horse/pony always feels safe. South Wales Carriage Driving Centre starts by helping your horse/pony get used to the equipment and the feeling of a carriage behind them, never forcing anything or rushing their progress. You can choose to have us train your pony completely, or we can guide you through each step so you gain confidence alongside your animal.
We focus on understanding what your horse/pony needs at every stage, identifying any worries or sticking points, and helping you both to overcome them. This patient's personalised approach reflects the values and experience that have shaped our centre for more than four decades, allowing you to learn more about what makes our training methods so effective.
